APPLICATION-LED SELECTION
Start with the task.
Build a useful shortlist.
This guide identifies a range to discuss with PSC. Final selection needs an application review.
01 / YOUR INTERFACE
What does the tool need to engage?
02 / REACH & CONSTRUCTION
Choose useful reach, not maximum length.
| Review | Selection principle |
|---|---|
| Working distance | Keep hands out of pinch, crush and landing zones throughout the movement. |
| Available space | Allow for the tool behind the operator, turns and escape routes. |
| Posture | Avoid excessive reach and awkward leverage; trial with normal gloves. |
| Contact surface | Select the head and insert around the finish, shape and environment. |
| Site identification | Use colour to organise tools, not to infer capacity. |
| Documentation | Confirm the precise configuration and operating instructions. |
03 / IMPLEMENTATION
Make the tool practical for the operator.
Document the task, trial the proposed interface with operations and safety teams, agree the method and train the users. Place tools near the task and include inspection, storage and replacement in the routine.
